This module provided me with a comprehensive introduction to the various forms of visual storytelling, exploring how ideas and information can be constructed and communicated through diverse representational methods and media. I learned how narrative structures—both linear and non-linear—play a crucial role in engaging audiences, shaping perspectives, and conveying messages effectively. Through a combination of practical workshops, theoretical discussions, and hands-on project tasks, I was encouraged to experiment with different storytelling techniques, integrating language, imagery, and interaction to create compelling visual narratives. This exploration helped me understand the power of design in guiding users through a story, whether through static compositions, sequential design, or interactive experiences.

For my project, I developed a digital visual narrative using Adobe XD, focusing on the Hong Kong protests that took place in 2019. This project allowed me to explore how design can be used as a medium for social and political discourse. Throughout the process, I gained a deeper understanding of UX/UI design and the importance of user-centered thinking. I learned that a well-designed user experience (UX) is not just about aesthetics but also about usability, accessibility, and intuitive interaction. By focusing on how users navigate and engage with digital content, I was able to craft a more immersive and meaningful experience that effectively communicated the story.

A key takeaway from this project was the importance of wireframing in UX/UI design. Wireframes serve as the blueprint for digital products, providing a structural framework that outlines layout, navigation, and functionality before committing to final visual details. I discovered that wireframing is much like storytelling—each screen or interaction is a chapter that guides the user through a seamless experience. By creating wireframes, I was able to plan and refine the structure of my project, ensuring logical user flow, content hierarchy, and ease of navigation. This process reinforced the idea that good UX design is rooted in clarity and efficiency, helping users engage with content in a way that feels natural and intuitive.

Overall, this project deepened my understanding of UX/UI principles, emphasizing the need for thoughtful design decisions that prioritize user engagement. It also highlighted how digital storytelling can be enhanced through structured design processes, ultimately strengthening my skills in creating purposeful and impactful user experiences.
